Objectives

  • Determine the hydrological implications to May Creek, with interest in the flooding situation in May Valley, over the entire vegitative recovery period for the parcels.

Maps

Some project-related maps are available in the Maps Gallery. Some are in the Community group and others are in the Thematic group

  • Community maps include the May Valley Subarea
  • Thematic maps include a couple developed by GeoEngineers
  • Maps that show the parcels involved in the clear cut are also in the Gallery

Squak Mountain

A proposed development called Serenity Estates was located on Squak Mountain. The development did not occur and some of the land involved was purchased with the initial intent of harvesting the trees.

The owner has expressed intent to clear cut the forest which has raised resident concerns. Of note is the concern expressed by residents downstream of the project site. The May Valley area of May Creek, whose headwaters are in proximity to the project site, has serious flooding problems.

The project is intended to determine the short- and long-term hydrological impacts of such a clear cut.
